What’s Been Happening on Maui?
There are always so many things to do on Maui. I am amazed on talking with people from the mainland that they think Maui is just beautiful resorts and pristine beaches, and it is just that. But then again if you dig a little deeper there is so many things to do and places to explore.
Right now in Kula Maui there is the Kula Pumpkin Festival going on in Kula Maui. I took my wife and grandkids to the Kula Festival over the weekend. People from all over Maui made the drive up to Upcountry Kula, it was just packed with families, fun for the whole family. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy a pumpkin patch.
I was really impressed with the exhibits that they made, they had ponies and there was a pasture of goats grazing on the hillside. The views overlooking the south shore of Kihei and Wailea were stunning. As you can guest The Great Pumpkin Patch had lots of pumpkins for sale.
It’s really nice sitting back and enjoying chow fun with the kids, with some crepe on the side, the food was excellent. They also had a corn patch maze to walk through and raised beds with winter flowers growing in their garden. So if you are on Maui, I really recommend a visit to the Kula Farms at Upcountry Maui.
Right now we are experiencing our first Kona Storm, rain was coming down last night with thunder and lightning, in fact right now my power is out. I love a good rain and storm on Maui, doesn’t happen all the time. The winter surf has arrived on the Northshore of Maui. Hookipa Beach Park was really big with 6 to 8ft surf yesterday, my oldest son Micah said he caught a couple bombs out there. I garbed my longboard and headed out to Kanaha Beach just past the airport and surfed some really good outer reef waves, arms are tired it’s a long paddle.
Friday we are expecting some 25 ft. waves, could be the opening days at Jaws or known as Peahi big wave spot, known around the world as a premier big wave. Coming up soon we have the Aloha Classic Windsurfing contest, if you have time this is well worth your time to watch some of the best windsurfers in the world take on challenging conditions, hopefully, we will have good wind and waves.
So if you are visiting Maui, looking for a vacation rental on Maui’s Northshore? Pineapple Cottage is just passed Paia Town first turn off as you enter Haiku Maui. Our two-bedroom cottage was been receiving rave 5-star reviews on Air B&B and Vrbo. My last guest loved the entrance to the lush property located on 2.5 acres. He was saying it’s like a secret garden as you enter through the driveway into a lush estate. The cottage is set on the gulch overlooking the ocean with a stream and has birds singing in the morning. It seems the lanai is a favorite part of our property, it’s so peaceful and scenic. But the inside of the cottage offers quality finishing, wood floors, walk-in shower and granite counter tops. Master bedroom has a king bed, bedroom two has a queen bed for your comfort.
My wife Ivy is an artist and does an amazing job making sure the cottage is in perfect condition. All our guest loves the details that have been taken to make this feel like home, so what our guest are saying, that they have done the condo thing and prefer a quiet, private cottage in the country. We are close to Paia Maui, ten minutes to Hookipa Beach Park for surfing and windsurfing. Haiku town has great restaurants and food trucks to explore that are just around the corner. So this winter if you are looking for a vacation rental on Maui, Pineapple just might be the island experience you been looking for. Everything is close by, a morning walk on Baldwin Beach. Or a visit to Makawao town for a little shopping and dining.
